Pokémon Pokopia has received its free 2.0 update alongside the launch of Bubbly Basin, the first phase of the game’s paid expansion pass.
The headline addition is a shared storage chest designed to solve one of the most common problems players have faced since release. The existing inventory and chest systems can make it difficult to remember where important materials, furniture, food, or landscaping blocks have been stored.
Standard storage chests have limited capacity, and only containers placed directly beside a crafting bench can provide materials during construction. Players managing several towns and biomes may therefore need to search through multiple locations before finding a specific item.
The new shared chest provides 140 storage slots, compared with the reported 60-slot maximum of existing containers. More importantly, its contents can be accessed from different settlements and biomes.
An item deposited into the shared chest in one location should remain available when the same type of container is opened elsewhere. This makes it especially useful for frequently used construction materials and valuable items needed across several regions.
Update 2.0 also introduces a diving mechanic that allows players to collect items beneath the water. Additional building content includes frameless glass and a new underwater electricity generator.
The free update arrives alongside Bubbly Basin, an underwater biome included in the paid Pokémon Pokopia expansion pass. The pass is planned to release in three phases and is priced at approximately £29.99 or $34.99, with regional differences possible.
The second expansion phase is expected to add more features, while the third will introduce another town. Dates shown through some preorder listings may be placeholders, particularly because Nintendo has reportedly promoted the second phase for late 2026 rather than March 2027.
Bubbly Basin expands the game with underwater content, but players do not need to purchase the expansion pass to benefit from the shared storage system and other features included in update 2.0.
The shared chest should significantly reduce unnecessary item management, especially for players who regularly move between towns while working on large landscaping and construction projects.
