You do not necessarily need every Ultimate Plan before attempting HMS Prince, but the later battles become considerably easier with the strongest available equipment.

Recruit the New Officers

How the HMS Prince Battle Works

The mines appear as bright orange areas in the sea. They are visible enough to avoid when you remain attentive, but they can be difficult to notice while searching through thick fog.
How to Defeat HMS Prince
Begin the encounter with mortar fire while closing the distance. Once within cannon range, position the Jackdaw for repeated broadside attacks.
When HMS Prince retreats, reduce speed slightly and search carefully rather than sailing directly through the fog at maximum speed.

This battle is much more demanding than HMS Prince or La Dama Negra. El Impoluto has an enormous health reserve, powerful cannons, extreme range, and a strong preference for ramming the Jackdaw.

Prepare for the Opening Ram
El Impoluto often begins the encounter by attempting to ram the Jackdaw. Be ready to turn away or brace immediately.
A direct impact can remove a large amount of health before the battle has properly begun. Do not open the map, aim a mortar, or focus entirely on attacking until the initial movement becomes clear.
After the first charge, El Impoluto repeatedly creates distance and repositions for additional ramming attempts.
Respect Its Cannon Range
El Impoluto can fire from a much greater distance than the Jackdaw. Sailing away does not automatically create safety because its broadside cannons remain dangerous far beyond normal engagement range.
Watch the sides of the ship. When the cannon ports open and glow, prepare to brace even when El Impoluto appears too distant to connect.
Trying to return fire from the same distance wastes ammunition. Use the time to change angle, approach carefully, or prepare for the next ram.
How the Heated Cannonball Barrage Works

Remain outside their formation whenever possible. Choose one ship and keep it between the Jackdaw and the second opponent.
This reduces the number of effective firing angles and makes it more difficult for both enemies to attack simultaneously.
Use Their Lower Health to Your Advantage
HMS Fearless and Royal Sovereign each have less health than the other individual Legendary Ships. The reduction helps balance the encounter, but their combined pressure remains much more dangerous.
Focus attacks carefully rather than dividing every volley randomly. You want to reduce both ships without allowing one to remain at full health while the other reaches its final phase.
Watch for Barrel Fields
When either ship reaches approximately half health, it begins releasing explosive barrels into the sea.

Begin by moving toward the outside of the pair rather than sailing directly between them. Target whichever ship is easier to isolate.
Use mortars on one opponent while firing broadside cannons at the other when suitable angles appear. This can help keep their health levels relatively close.
Once one vessel reaches approximately half health, shift more attention toward the healthier ship. Continue alternating until both are close to defeat.
When their barrel phase begins, slow down enough to navigate safely. Use the barrels against the enemy when possible, but do not sacrifice positioning merely to trigger an explosion.
